Nellie Fox was the heart of the 1959 Go-Go White Sox, the team that brought Chicago’s South Side its first pennant since the tarnished Black Sox season 40 years earlier. The image of Little Nel in his batting stance has become iconic — a choked-up grip on his bottle bat with a wad of chewing tobacco bulging in his cheek. Fox was an unimpressive physical specimen at 5-feet-9 without much innate athletic ability, but determination and opportunity helped a gritty kid with a burning love for the game become a perennial all-star and ultimately a Hall of Famer.

In 1908, the Western Sporting Goods Company in Chicago began putting J.C. Higgins on baseballs and baseball gloves sold in Sears catalogs. By 1910, the J.C. Higgins trademark was extended to cover footballs and basketballs.

Measuring 4.5" by 3.75", this Nellie Fox bi-fold was an absolute treat to make. Featuring darker JC Higgins vintage baseball leather, the details are subtle, but the overall product is just fantastic. Nellie’s signature grabs your attention and the lighter tan baseball stitching provides a nice contrast. The JC Higgins stamp on the back is something we were glad to salvage and include in this wallet. The vintage leather theme continues on the inside with multiple top load card pockets and a full length cash slot as well. You won’t be disappointed in how great this thing looks and feel in person. Enjoy!
